All my characters are me. I’m not a good enough actor to become a character. I hear about actors who become the role and I think ‘I wonder what that feels like’. Because for me, they’re all me. I relate to these characters because aspects of their personality are like me. And I just turn up the parts of myself that are them and turn down the parts that aren’t. - Ryan Gosling

Barbet Schroeder with Ryan Gosling and Michael Pitt on the set of Murder by Numbers (2002)
‘It was interesting when we did that film because we were both at this stage where no one really knew who we were. I think I was 20 or 21, and after we finished a scene, Barbet [Schroeder, the director] said, ‘It’s going to go down in history that you guys worked together on this scene.’ I was very young, I didn’t really understand at the time, but I’m starting to see what he means. Ryan is a good guy and a great actor.’
